Why I Wish I Still Had My College Trunk

Before working here at Trunk Outlet, my experience with trunks was pretty minimal. I've always liked them. There's something old school and practical about them. They function as both storage and a furniture item at the same time. A little over five years ago, I graduated from SUNY Oswego in upstate New York. Before moving to my apartment off campus in my senior year, I remember looking through my parents basement for furniture items that I could move in to my room and use.

I found this old wooden trunk that looked like it took some great abuse over the years. If I recall correctly, I was told that it was actually my grandfather's trunk. It's always so cool when things like that can get passed down. I took it to my apartment, and used it mostly to store clothing in my extremely small closet. It was perfect! It held a massive amount of clothes, and when closed, I would place items on top of it for even more clothes. At times, I recall putting it at the end of my bed to be used as extra seating, as well.

Somewhere along the line, I no longer used it. After I moved out, the old wooden trunk started to get beat up in the moving process due to the wheels. On this trunk, the wheels were permanently on the bottom of the trunk, which created a lot of issues. Sometimes a wheel would stop working and it would be a pain to move the whole trunk. Again, this was an old old trunk that lasted for what must have been two generations.

Since working at Trunk Outlet, I've really learned to love the removable wheels that come with the Rhino Trunks. They pop on and they pop right off. When in use, they're mounted on the side of the trunk, which makes them easy to put on and take off. They also do not add height to the trunk or make the trunk move around when you don't want it to. I miss my old wooden trunk from college, but wish I knew about the Rhino trunks at the time.

In the couple of years that I've worked at Trunk Outlet, I've purchased a Rhino trunk and couldn't be happier. Right now it sits in my bedroom, acting as storage for that junk drawer that everyone has at their house - that place where everyone puts everything they don't know what to do with and don't want people to see. It doubles at a night stand that I place drinks, my laptop and my phone on. I have the Naked Rhino Cube Trunk, but am planning on purchasing a larger size in the future and will certainly be adding the removable wheels when I do.

Rhino Trunk and Case offers a variety of styles, sizes and colors for trunks. They're perfect for college living and for the apartment as well.
